The L!brary Initiative, a poverty-fighting program of the Robin Hood Foundation, is responsible for building dozens of libraries in under-funded New York City public schools. The spaces were designed by many up-and-coming and established architects. In my role as designer at Pentagram, I was responsible for most of the graphics and signs that finished the spaces.
The work involved hiring and coordinating multiple designers, illustrators, and photographers to create murals and graphics. In the program’s final year, artwork was also generated by the kids through workshops I developed in cooperation with the Hester Street Collaborative.
